Florida has a medical marijuana program, not adult-use recreational sales. The Office of Medical Marijuana Use, or OMMU, reported 779 approved dispensing locations and 941,271 active patient identification cards in its September 11, 2026 weekly update.

Those numbers are a statewide snapshot, not a promise that every approved address is already serving patients. A newly approved location may still be preparing to open, publishing hours, or activating its online menu. Check both the state list and the operator's current location page before making a trip.

What Changed in the September 11 Snapshot

The approved-location total remained at 779 compared with September 4. OMMU reported no new dispensing-location approvals during September 4 through September 10. The active-card count decreased by 238, from 941,509 to 941,271.

That one-week difference is a descriptive registry count, not proof of why the number changed or how many people shopped. It also does not show whether a particular city gained access, whether a storefront opened, or whether an operator's current hours and services changed.

Earlier City-Level Approval: Verify Before Traveling

The preceding September 4 report names Curaleaf Florida, LLC in Riverview as a dispensing location approved during August 28 through September 3.

State-approved locations are not confirmed openings. The weekly report identifies the operator and city but does not provide a street address, opening date, hours, or menu for this approval. Do not assume that an existing location in the same city is the newly approved store. Verify the exact address and opening status against the current OMMU location list and the operator's official website before traveling.

What Is an MMTC?

MMTC means Medical Marijuana Treatment Center. In Florida, licensed MMTCs cultivate, process, and dispense medical marijuana under the state program. The storefronts patients call dispensaries are dispensing locations operated by those licensed organizations.

An address appearing on the official OMMU list helps confirm that it belongs to an approved operator. It does not tell you whether a particular product is in stock, whether delivery reaches your address, or whether the store is open at this moment.

How to Verify a Florida Dispensary

Use this three-part check before visiting:

1. Confirm the location. Search the current OMMU Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers list for the operator, address, city, and county.

2. Check the operator. Open the MMTC's own location page to confirm opening status, hours, phone number, accessibility information, pickup, and delivery.

3. Check your patient readiness. Confirm that your registry status, identification, physician certification, and relevant order are current. A dispensary cannot correct a registry or physician-order problem for you.

If an address appears on the OMMU list but the operator says "coming soon," rely on the operator's current opening notice before traveling. If the two sources disagree, call the operator and report the mismatch through our correction page.

Three Separate Checks Before You Travel

An approved store, an active state card, and an open physician order answer different questions. Checking only one can leave a trip unfinished.

1. Store verification: can this location serve you? Match the exact address, then ask the operator about today's hours, the intended product, pickup or delivery arrangements, and accepted identification. A live menu or a city-level approval does not confirm all of those details.

2. Card and application status: what has the state approved? Use the official Medical Marijuana Use Registry to check the current status, and follow OMMU's card instructions for application questions. A submitted application, payment receipt, or appointment confirmation is not the same as an active card or an open order. Keep the state-card date separate from the physician date with the renewal checklist.

3. Physician and order readiness: is the intended purchase available to you? Check the current certification, whether an order is open for the intended date and route, and the available amount shown in the registry. Send the question to the right place: the operator for store details and checkout verification, the OMMU for state-card application status or registry technical help, and the qualified physician's clinic for certification or order questions. Once a location is verified, compare practical details that matter to you:

• Product routes that match an active physician order.
• Current menu, package size, and final price.
• New-patient or other discounts and their exclusions.

How to Find Dispensary Deals by City

Use location and deal information as two separate checks:

2. Choose a licensed location. Match the operator and address in the statewide directory, then check the operator's official location page.

3. Search by operator. Use the current deals finder or deal comparison tool to research reviewed offers from that dispensary brand.

4. Confirm local participation. Ask whether the specific store participates and verify dates, exclusions, product availability, eligibility, and the final price.

Can Patients Use Any Licensed MMTC?

Qualified Florida patients are not generally tied to one dispensary brand. A purchase still depends on active patient status, a current physician certification and order for the intended route, available amount in the registry, and the location's ability to complete the transaction.
